On the morning of October 30th local time, the Ganntas Tunnel in Algeria built by CCECC (China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CRCC) was successfully completed, after more than 6 years of work. This tunnel is a separated double hole single track tunnel with the left line of 7346 meters and the right line of 7335 meters. It is the first long tunnel in Algeria as well as in North Africa with the total length of 14.68 kilometers. The complex marl geology of the tunnel has been called “the disaster of geological engineers” by french engineers. With the great difficulty of construction, CCECC created the local underground engineering construction record of driving 520 meters and 870 meters per month.
