The Xi'an-Kazakhstan Terminal, a facility designed by CRCC, officially commenced operations at the Almaty Logistics Park on June 10. Strategically situated south of Almaty's existing GTS2 railway station, this 9.8-hectare logistics hub features two new rail lines for efficient loading and unloading, alongside 23,400 square meters of modern warehouses, 38,600 square meters of paved container yards, and 18,700 square meters for general cargo. CRCC oversaw the entire project, from initial surveys and design to construction coordination.
This terminal is a vital asset for boosting regional industrial exports and strengthening China-Kazakhstan cooperation. It serves as a critical logistics hub, facilitating the flow of goods for both China-Central Asia freight trains and local businesses. Leveraging the Xi'an Port's Central Asia rail links, the project streamlines multi-modal transport for imports, exports, and transit cargo to and from Central Asian nations. It offers a full suite of container services, including transactions, handling, and storage, for goods moving through or out of the region.
From the project's outset, CRCC's technical teams conducted extensive on-site assessments and technical studies. They meticulously considered Kazakhstan's unique local context and international logistics standards, thoroughly analyzing the GTS2 station's layout and available land. This allowed them to dynamically refine the design to accommodate diverse cargo, including containers, e-commerce goods, and automobiles. Furthermore, during construction, CRCC enhanced on-site support by deploying experienced technical personnel to the frontline. They actively fostered collaboration among all stakeholders, ensuring an efficient workflow that led to the successful completion of all construction phases.
The inauguration of the Xi'an-Kazakhstan Terminal marks a significant milestone in the Belt and Road Initiative. Its operation is set to significantly advance container shipping, multimodal transport, and e-commerce logistics between China and Kazakhstan. It will also stimulate industrial capacity and investment partnerships, fostering a robust and diverse regional industrial ecosystem, thereby providing substantial impetus for the high-quality development of the "Silk Road Economic Belt."
