On July 22, a grand handover ceremony was held for a maternity ward building in Mindelo, on Cape Verde's Sao Vincente Island. The project was constructed by CRCC as part of China's aid program.

This marks Cape Verde's largest medical infrastructure project since gaining independence and represents a significant milestone in China-Cape Verde cooperation, demonstrating China's commitment to supporting healthcare development in Cape Verde. Located on Sao Vincente Island, the project encompasses new obstetrics and gynecology and pediatrics buildings spanning approximately 5,768 square meters. The facility features 150 beds and state-of-the-art medical equipment, including modern delivery rooms, neonatal intensive care units, and specialized operating theaters for obstetric procedures. This infrastructure will substantially enhance local healthcare capabilities.

Throughout the construction phase, CRCC maintained rigorous quality standards and met all project deadlines. The Chinese medical team stationed in Cape Verde provided valuable assistance by safeguarding worker health, offering technical expertise, and ensuring proper equipment utilization.

Looking ahead, China will continue supporting the hospital through a two-year technical assistance program, including professional training for local healthcare workers. This initiative aims to establish the facility as a key hub for China-Africa medical cooperation.
